A lovely vintage collier with vivid watermelon iris crystals! These were made in Czechoslovakia since the Edwardian times in long canes (rather like sticks) of seaside rock, with the colors running through the length of the cane. The cane would then be cut to size, faceted and polished. This example has a lovely central trefoil frieze with marquise cuts suspended from a line of round cuts. The central frieze is also flanked with two smaller marquise stones. All the crystals are claw set for safety and the little line is articulated for flexibility. The necklace is completed with a fine trace link chain which closes with a secure ring bolt clasp. A slice of rainbow!
